capital jazzfest & street art fairSaturday, September 18, 2010 Capital Jazzfest & Street Art Fair will be held Saturday, September 18, at the Memorial Park. Watch the park pavement come alive during JAZZFEST. If you have never before participated in Street Art we want to encourage you to come out and join in a day of music, creativity and fun. THIS YEAR WILL BE BETTER THAN EVER, Cash Prizes! (See below)Jefferson City Memorial Park call for chalk artistSign Up Today! Registration is limited to 25 participants in each category.Important Suggestions: • Only pastel chalk provided by Capital Arts may be used. If you need more chalk in particular colors, you can exchange colors with other street artists or ask at the registration table. • Artwork must be appropriate for public viewing. Capital Arts is entitled to photograph and reproduce the street painting for purposes of historical record and future publicity. • We encourage street painters to sign their work. If you are reproducing an image originally created by another artist it is important to credit the original artist and the title. • Please respect the street artists who are working near you. Please do not walk on their drawings or have open beverage containers, which could spill and damage a drawing. Supplies you may want to bring: • Whisk broom or brush for cleaning drawing surface • Masking tape for creating sharp borders, edges or geometry • A portable dust-buster is handy to remove excess chalk dust. • Disposable latex gloves are excellent for blending colors with fingers and for protection. • A 2-by-2 piece of cardboard allows one to sit or stand on the drawing without disturbing the work. • Chalkboard eraser for blending larger areas of color - an excellent tool for laying a basic undercoat of color covering your square onto which other colors may be applied. Also for blending, a plastic sheet, felt, and short cut brushes. • A towel or paper towels for wiping up • If showers are threatened, bring a plastic drop cloth to cover work temporarily. • Water will be provided Judging Criteria: • Aesthetics: The extent to which the entry created is overall pleasing • Execution: The extent to which the entrant uses their skills • Creativity: The extent to which the artist creates a reproduction or unique entry • Complexity: The extent to which the entry was difficult to produce Questions?
