Calling all artists!

Capital Arts has some exciting opportunities for you to share your artistic talents with the Jefferson City community and its visitors. Capital Arts Gallery and Studio is truly beautiful!  Artists from the surrounding area now have an opportunity to exhibit, sell their work, and teach their trade.  We would like to extend an opportunity for you to exhibit with us where your work will be spotlighted and admired.

The Fiber Exhibition

The Fiber Exhibition will be held from April 17th to May 29th.  We welcome fiber artists from throughout the state, ( See Attachment Fiber Exhibition 2010 Gallery Agreement)

The juried exhibition will display contemporary and traditional fiber art.  The Fiber Exhibition and artist reception will be a part of Jefferson City’s 2nd Art Exposed Gallery Crawl the evening of May 14th.  The Gallery Crawl is an entertaining evening filled with art, music, wine and hors d’oudres at Jefferson City’s finest galleries.  The Fiber Exhibition entry deadline is April 7, 2010.  The fee to exhibit for 6 weeks in the Fiber Exhibition will be $5 for each piece.  One may be limited to 3 pieces depending on total number of gallery submissions.  Artwork must be original and must be made by the artist within the last two years.

Please review the schedule of shows.

The Capital Jazzfest & Street Art Fair September 17 & 18, 2010  Memorial Park
This Jefferson City tradition becomes more popular each year.  Friday will be an opportunity for school groups to show their creativity on the sidewalks; that evening, beginning at 5:30 p.m., there will be Beer, Blues and BBQ.   Come mellow out to the lulling sounds of the blues.    Day two consists of live jazz and live art as the sidewalks are lined with a diverse group of amateur and professional artists of all ages, chalking it up for top honors and prizes.  Whether recreating a well known piece of art or making an original, participants make the concrete come alive.  One need not be an artist to join in; all are encouraged to unleash their creativity in this day long event.

In addition, artist tents full of wares are dispersed throughout the park.
