To curb the spread of COVID-19, Capital Arts will close the gallery effective tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18.

We will reevaluate the current state and hope to open our doors by Wednesday, April 1st. We hope this precautionary measure helps protect our community, volunteers and members that we so value.

More communication to come on our exhibition and event schedules.

Get Involved!

Capital Arts has a variety of ways to volunteer, to help share the wonders of art with all ages in the community.

Volunteers bring the fascinating lives and works of six renown arts – Picasso, Claude Monet, Thomas Hart Benton, and contemporary Faith Ringgold into every fourth grade classroom in Jefferson City.  These one-hour programs, each packed in an easy to carry suitcase/portfolio, are scheduled by an AIS coordinator who matches volunteers’ calendars with those of fourth grade art classes.  After a provided, scripted program on an artist, the children unleash their own talent on a theme suggested by the volunteer.  Results:  Amazing!  Students really absorb what they learn from “Artists” in a Suitcase.

We are always looking for Gallery Volunteers!  Capital Arts really appreciates the help of anyone in the community – artists, or those who just enjoy art and recognize it’s enriching qualities.  Please call or email to sign up to become a Gallery hostess.   Your responsibility will be to welcome gallery visitors and share what you know about Capital Arts.  Brief training sessions are offered on how to turn on lights, make sales, and enough details to make you a connoisseur of Capital Arts' rotating exhibits.  How often do you get to spend three hours surrounded by superb art?  Don’t miss this opportunity to enrich your own life as well as those of gallery visitors!

Partnering with performing arts is an important aspect of Capital Arts’ mission.  Every fall, Capital Arts unites with JazzFest in beautiful downtown Jefferson City.  Visitors enjoy live jazz while watching amateur and professional artists (all ages) chalk it up for top honors and prizes.   Volunteers are needed and appreciated for this exciting event.
