Volunteer Arts Education Program Coordinator & Development

This position is for a self-starter who likes finding & creating opportunities. Develop proposals for the board on new programs and assist in strengthening current programs. This position is also research intensive as program proposals will need to include a full plan. Detailed proposals will include everything from how to recruit volunteers/ specialists to execute programs to financials

Business experience is a plus. Passion for growing arts opportunities in the community required.

Volunteer Assistant Social Media/ Marketing Director

We are looking for volunteer or an intern with a strong written voice and a love of design, crafts & visual arts. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill internship – you will not be getting us coffee! This person will be working closely with our executive director to learn the ins and outs of social media & marketing management and development. A strong eye for detail is a must for this position.

Volunteer Program Development Director 

This position is for someone who likes finding opportunities. Develop proposals for the board on new programs and assist in strengthening current programs. 

Volunteer Grants Manager

Assist Executive Director in processing existing grants as well as researching other grant opportunities. Current grants include mini-grants under the Cultural Arts Commission and other grants under the Missouri Arts Council. This volunteer will plan their own schedule within Wed - Fri from noon to 6pm.

Volunteer Non-profit Arts Administration/ Gallery Assistant

Capital Arts Gallery is seeking credible and reliable administrative / gallery interns whose assignments will range from customer service to data entry to event promotion. Write your own schedule within our weekday Wed-Fri from Noon to 6pm.

Note: Experience in this kind of job or field is an advantage but not compulsory. This is a great opportunity to explore how art galleries and non-profits function. 

Individuals in this position will have opportunities in office management, non-profit work, social media direction & management, program development and management, grant-work, art gallery work, events, program management and development, promotions, press-releases and more.     

Weekend Volunteers

Oversee the gallery and imagination station during our weekend ours (Sat & Sun 1-4pm). You’ll be able to design your own schedule and decide when you would like to work. Weekend volunteers are allowed to bring in other things to work on or entertained.

Event Staff Volunteers  

Volunteers for our large annual events such as our gallery crawl or chalk art competition. Shifts can range from 2-8 hours depending on volunteer availability.

Volunteer Graphic Designer

Design images for social media, individual programs and update existing documents & graphics. Volunteer may also assist in training other volunteers/ staff on graphic design depending on skill-level. This person needs to have experience or willingness to strengthen design skills,

Estimated involvement 4 hours per week   

Arts Marketing Volunteer

This volunteer will work closely with the Executive Director and Marketing Committee of Capital Arts. This unpaid volunteer position involves copywriting, brainstorming, information-wrangling and strategic planning. This is a great opportunity to learn and develop skills through intensive research of arts marketing opportunities and approaches. This internship will provide a fast-paced window into the world of marketing strategies and long-term stratigic planning. 

·         Responsibilities include writing social media posts and blog articles, obtaining approvals and scheduling communications, monitoring social media accounts, and working on special projects and contests. Familiarity with Facebook and Twitter, a strong understanding of grammar, knowledge of visual arts, and the ability to quickly learn new computer programs are required.

·         Graphic Design skills or willingness to learn graphic design is a plus.

Commitment 3-16 hours per week

Development and Events Assistant Intern

The Development and Events Assistant Intern will work under the supervision of the Executive Director. S/He will assist with gift processing and acknowledgement, research, gathering documentation for grants and reporting, writing letters, solicitations for in-kind donations, coordinating vendors for events, some volunteer management, and follow up correspondence with donors. Interns will have a unique opportunity to gain experience in fundraising and special event planning, and will develop an in-depth, insider’s knowledge of a large and vibrant visual arts community. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in contemporary visual arts or art history and arts management; strong writing skills; interest in event planning and fundraising for a nonprofit arts organization; extremely detail oriented; and a willingness to learn. We are looking for an individual with a passion to assist in planning the next BIG event.

·         Strong written & intrapersonal skills as well as experience in Microsoft Office is a requirement.

This position involves a minimal 6 month commitment. This candidate should plan to be involved 2-16 hours a week. Hours and days of week are flexible.

Volunteer Event Planner

This volunteer will work closely with the Executive Director and Marketing & Fundraising Committees of Capital Arts. This position involves copywriting, brainstorming, and information-wrangling, event planning & coordination. This position also offers a great opportunity to learn and develop through intensive research of arts marketing opportunities and approaches. This is a fast-paced window into the world of nonprofit arts planning and management.

 

We’d like a volunteer or intern to help execute and manage all Capital Arts events. Daily duties may range from locating event space and catering donations, managing invitees, and constant coordination with the social media and marketing team to ensure every Capital Arts event is a home run! Events range from our annual street art competition, gallery crawls, fundraisers and artist receptions.  

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Participating in the creation of an overall Event plan for the organization

2. Coordination of event donors, management of RSVPs, theme planning and location scouting

3. Recruit volunteers for events

5. Write, edit, and send press releases, advertising materials and other Event marketing communications

Requirements

The ideal candidate is passionate about the visual arts and has the following experience or characteristics:

• Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Hospitality or a related field

• Experience planning and events

• Entrepreneurial spirit

• Sharp, go-getter attitude

• Good interpersonal skills and high emotional IQ

This position requires a minimum of 4 hours a week and on-site meetings.

Committees:

·         Marketing

Work with our devoted Marketing team. This team wears multiple hats as committee members should expect to assist with general marketing, event promotion, membership development and assistance with fundraising at this time.  

·         Fundraising

Work with our Fundraising team on planning and development of fundraisers. You’ll have the opportunity to plan Jefferson City’s next big event! This is a great committee for individuals with interests or skills in event-planning, fundraising and networking. 

·         Gallery

Do you have a passion for art and love being in a gallery setting? This might be the committee for you. Work with our art experts in planning gallery events, future exhibitions, receiving & returning artwork and hanging shows. You’ll be able to see all of the work before the show is even up!

·         Education

This small committee works on strategies for future classes, recruitment of teachers and education programs.
